This is the last week of our summer CSA, and we got some gorgeous produce this time around, including juicy pears, various colored eggplants, and giant luscious tomatoes.
Which is why I was happy to learn this fun fact from Serious Eats:
Tomatoes should always be stored with the stem-end facing down. It's the most stable position for the tomato, and also helps avoid excess evaporation out of the scar where the stem was removed. Your tomato will last about twice as long in this position.Check out the post, which has a lot of other useful tomato tips.

Very cool! We will be harvesting our tomatoes this weekend to make tomato sauce, and I'll sure keep this tip in mind!
