Carving a Chicken, for Dummies Like Me

I've been preparing a number of roast chicken recipes lately, and it's confirmed what I've always suspected: I have zero knife skills.  A gorgeous, bronzed roast chicken emerges from the oven, but by the time it gets to my table, it looks like I went all Edward Scissorhands on it.

That's why I was psyched to see this Kitchn post on carving a chicken for dummies.  The video is a bit low-budget, but if you can get past the "Blair Witch Project" shakiness of the image (I mean, can Apartment Therapy not afford a tripod?), the info is very helpful and accessible.  It actually walks you, step-by-step, through carving a chicken, and it manages to not make you feel like a jackass for not knowing how to do this.  And the girl on the video is hilarious as she grunts, laughs, and occasionally fumbles her way through.  Despite the fumbles, the results are totally professional.

I can't wait to try out my new carving technique this Friday!

What do you feel most wonky about in the kitchen?

Now this is why I love blogs and the internet. I have avoided so many recipes for whole roasted chickens, because I am a total novice at how to cut it up afterwards! THANK YOU for this post! :)
